Top 10 Foods for a Good Night's Sleep

What is the secret to getting a solid 7 to 8 hours of sleep? Head for the kitchen and enjoy one or two of these 10 foods. They relax tense muscles, quiet buzzing minds, and/or get calming, sleep-inducing hormones - serotonin and melatonin - flowing. Yawning yet?

Bananas. They're practically a sleeping pill in a peel. In addition to a bit of soothing melatonin and serotonin, bananas contain magnesium, a muscle relaxant.

Chamomile tea. The reason chamomile is such a staple of bedtime tea blends is its mild sedating effect - it's the perfect natural antidote for restless minds/bodies.

Warm milk. It's not a myth. Milk has some tryptophan - an amino acid that has a sedative - like effect - and calcium, which helps the brain use tryptophan. Plus there's the psychological throw-back to infancy, when a warm bottle meant "relax, everything's fine."

Honey. Drizzle a little in your warm milk or herb tea. Lots of sugar is stimulating, but a little glucose tells your brain to turn off orexin, a recently discovered neurotransmitter that's linked to alertness.

Potatoes. A small baked spud won't overwhelm your GI tract, and it clears away acids that can interfere with yawn-inducing tryptophan. To up the soothing effects, mash it with warm milk.

Oatmeal. Oats are a rich source of sleep - inviting melatonin, and a small bowl of warm cereal with a splash of maple syrup is cozy - plus if you've got the munchies, it's filling too.

Almonds. A handful of these heart-healthy nuts can be snooze-inducing, as they contain both tryptophan and a nice dose of muscle-relaxing magnesium.

Flaxseeds. When life goes awry and feeling down is keeping you up, try sprinkling 2 tablespoons of these healthy little seeds on your bedtime oatmeal. They're rich in omega-3 fatty acids, a natural mood lifter.

Whole-wheat bread. A slice of toast with your tea and honey will release insulin, which helps tryptophan get to your brain, where it's converted to serotonin and quietly murmurs "time to sleep."

Turkey. It's the most famous source of tryptophan, credited with all those Thanksgiving naps. But that's actually modern folklore. Tryptophan works when your stomach's basically empty, not overstuffed, and when there are some carbs around, not tons of protein. But put a lean slice or two on some whole-wheat bread mid-evening, and you've got one of the best sleep inducers in your kitchen.

What if none of these foods help you get your zzz's? Check out your sleep habits with this quick RealAge test to find out what?s keeping you up at night. http://www.realage.com/health_guides/RLS/intro.aspx

For an extra treat, here's the ultimate sleep-inducing snack...

Lullaby Muffins
Makes 12 low-fat muffins
Between the bananas, the whole wheat, and the honeyed touch of sweetness, these muffins are practically an edible lullaby.
· 2 cups whole-wheat pastry flour
· 1/2 teaspoon salt
· 1 tablespoon baking powder
· 2 large, very ripe bananas
· 1/3 cup applesauce
· 1/4 cup honey
· 1/2 cup milk or soymilk

Preheat oven to 350F. In a large bowl, combine the flour (make sure it's whole-wheat pastry flour or you'll produce golf balls, not muffins), salt, and baking powder. In a blender, puree the bananas; add the applesauce, honey, and milk. Blend well. Pour the banana mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just moistened. Line muffin tins with paper muffin cups, pour in batter, and bake 30 minutes or until tops are lightly brown and slightly springy.

My way

Yes, there were times,
I'm sure you knew,
When I bit off more than I could chew,
But through it all,
when there was doubt,
I ate it up and spit it out.
I faced it all and I stood tall And did it my way.

The why reason...

It's been mentioned already...

Independence:

No one can sack me.
No one can hold me back.
No one can muscle in on my territory.
I have no crops to fail.
The government can't do anything but ask for my tax share.
The weather can't screw my business but for a small time. (communications , power maybe) ....hell, just relocate if it does.
The economy hitting recession won't be worth worrying about. As long as somethings changing value, I can make money.
Technology won't steal my wage.
I can take time off whenever I want.
If someone elses screw-up, it can't destroy what im doing.
As time goes on, my earnings will increase.

...many more reasons for sure.

As long as there is a market and access to it, I'll have a source of income.

And the better I get at this, the more enjoyment I get from it.

Debt free in 7 steps in '07

7 steps to becoming debt-free in '07

1. Live below your means. You cannot become debt-free if you spend more than you earn. It's that simple! Financial stress relief is called "money in the bank" or "positive cash flow."

2. Decide where you want to spend your money. Don't let others decide for you. Know how much money you are bringing in, how much goes out and to where it goes. Now is the time to change your spending habits. You are ultimately responsible for how your money is spent.

3. Pay your bills on time, every time. Managing monthly bills is an essential part of staying debt free and maintaining a good credit rating. If you find this difficult, come up with a system to ensure that bills are not paid late.

4. Set financial goals, both short and long term. Having goals in place makes it easier to make the necessary spending cuts to get what you really want. Without reasons to cut spending and save, you will constantly be under pressure to spend money you don't have for things you don't need.

5. Use credit only as a tool and with a plan. Figure out how and when you will pay the balance. Imagine building a house without a plan or blueprints. That's what your financial house will look like, too, without a plan. Your goal should be to pay for credit card purchases within three months. Remember, unlike wine, cheese or my friends, debts do not improve with age.

6. Have an adequate emergency savings fund. Life will throw curveballs at you, ranging from the need to replace a worn-out washing machine to a temporary job loss. Three to six months' worth of bare-bones living expenses should shield you from most of these problems. Can't do three months' worth? Start with three days' worth and watch it grow as saving becomes a habit.

7. Learn how to invest your savings. Your money has to earn more money to keep you out of debt, especially in your later years. It takes money to make money. Take a class, find a referral to a great adviser or just start reading. Do it your way, but do it and start now. Invest early!

So there it is, my seven for '07. May you have a debt-free New Year!

Habit

I am your constant companion,
I am your greatest helper or your heaviest burden.
I will push you onward or drag you down to failure.
I am at your command.
Half of the tasks that you do you might just as well
Turn over to me and I will do them quickly and correctly.
I am easily managed; you must merely be firm with me.
Show me exactly how you want something done.
After a few lessons, I will do it automatically.
I am the servant of all great people
And the regret of all failures as well.
Those who are great, I have made great.
Those who are failures, I have made failures.
I am not a machine but I will work with all its precision
Plus the intelligence of a person.
Now you may run me for profit or you may run me for ruin.
It makes no difference to me.
Take me, train me, be firm with me and
I will lay the world at your feet.
Be easy with me and I will destroy you.

I am called Habit!

Prison vs Work

IN PRISON AT WORK
> You spend the majority of your time in an 8X10 cell. you spend most of your time in a 6X8 cubicle.

IN PRISON AT WORK
> You get three meals a day (free). .you only get a break for one meal and you have to pay for it yourself.

IN PRISON AT WORK
> You get time off for good behavior. you get rewarded for good behavior with more WORK.

IN PRISON AT WORK
> A guard locks and unlocks the doors for you. .you must carry around a security card and unlock open all the doors yourself.

IN PRISON AT WORK
> You can watch TV and play games. you get fired for watching TV and playing games.

IN PRISON AT WORK
> You get your own toilet. you have to share.

IN PRISON AT WORK
> They allow your family and friends to visit. you can not even speak to your family and friends.

IN PRISON AT WORK
> All expenses are paid by taxpayers with no work at all. You get to pay all the expenses to go to work and then they deduct taxes from your salary to pay for the prisoners.

Adventure

I wanna have the same last dream again
The one where I wake up and I'm alive
Just as the four walls close me within
My eyes are open up with pure sunlight
I'm the first to know

My dearest friends
Even if your hope has burned with time
Anything that is dead shall be re-grown
And your vicious pain, your warning sign
You will be fine

Any type of love it will be shown
Like every single tree reach for the sky
If you're gonna fall
I'll let you know
That I will pick you up
Like you for and I

I felt this thing
I can't replace
when everyone was working for this goal
where all the children left without a trace
only to come back as pure as gold
to recite this all

I can not live
I can't breathe
Unless you do this with me

Tonight
Hello here I am
And here we go
Life's waiting to begin

Dilemma

Been feeling down with low morale, unhappiness, demoralised, loss of motivation, loss of smiles, loss of hopes, loss of dreams, loss of strength, courage, dignity and pride. I see others being happy but I myself am not feeling happy the way it used to be. Can I just pretend that this things never happen? Im going broke. How long I can last? I dunno. Im not the same anymore. My inner spirit is dying....Had been bashed up down left right center. Seems to me everything is impossible now. I guess I just have to swallow and face the facts. At this moment that Im going through, I now know to differentiate who my true friends are....

Im off for job hunting to get back up on my feet. Wish me good luck...

Cigarded

I am Peter Stuyvesant
I have two friends, Benson and Hedges
I came from the city of Marlboro,
In the Salem high country
I Always carry a Mild Seven
I rode on a White Horse
Going to Kingsway in Kent
It was Lucky Strike I fell in love
With the daughter of Master Duke
Her name Was YSL
We got married by Perillys, the priest
We checked in at the house of Dunhill
And booked into room number 555
I laid her on the bed made of Gold Leaf
I played with her two Matterhorns
When I poked in my Rothmans King Size
She cried in delight, "You are a Rough Rider!!!"
You are riding like a mad Camel
When I asked her if she is satisfied
She answered" I want MORE!!!!"
Then suddenly she turned around and asked me if I want to
enter her Gudang Garam.
She said... depan belakang puas, barulah Sampoerna!!!
